Q: We met at a CLE event and what were your revenues the year we met?
A: That year I grossed $550,000 and that was in October of 2014. This year I am on a 1.25 million dollar run rate and climbing.
Q: How has doubling your business allowed you to do more good in the world?
A: For one, I’m less busy. I’m a single mom and so I pick up my son everyday at 3:40 from school and take him to school in the morning. I have more time with my family.
Q: Do you remember when you made one of the key decisions to become who you need to become to be who you want to be?
A: I remember exactly when it happened. It was actually at the CLE. I knew I wasn’t good at running my practice. I knew I wasn’t a good businessperson. I was a good lawyer and so the next professional phase for me was to get some business management skills. When I signed up for the CLE with How to Manage and heard your message, it resonated. By the time I came up to speak with you and Chris Anderson I didn’t exactly know what I was signing up for but I just knew I needed to make a decision. I never made a decision like that. I knew I was going to have to do whatever I need to do to get there. It was just me. I didn’t have an associate. I shared a receptionist slash legal assistant. I handled all my court hearings so there was a lot to do in those three weeks to be at the live quarterly meeting. I just remember you and Chris Anderson asking me what my decision was. What’s amazed me is making that decision on a whim and making it happen in a few weeks, it was just that one moment where now I’ll make those kinds of decisions and then figure out how to make it happen.
